Undefeated Home Record at Stake with UCF and Southern Miss Matches|

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall volleyball looks to keep its 5-0 home court record intact with its first home matches in two weeks this weekend. The Thundering Herd will take on UCF on Friday at 7 p.m. ET and follow with a Sunday match against Southern Miss at 12:30 p.m. ET.
The Herd currently sits third overall in the conference after winning the past nine out of 10 games and combines for a 12-5 (2-1 C-USA) record. Marshall finished last weekend 1-1 after falling to the No.1 team in C-USA, Tulsa, and beating SMU.
As a team, the Herd leads the league in service aces with 1.42 per set as well as in opponent hitting percentage, limiting the competition to a .168 hitting percentage. The Herd is led on offense by outside hitters Laura Der and Katy Schad. Der has a team-high 214 kills, while contributing 156 digs and 15 service aces. Schad follows with 212 kills and is second on the team in digs with 207.
Setter Sammie Bane has 630 assists for the year and is fourth in the conference with 10.16 assists per set. On defense, libero Dorothy Rahal leads the team and is third in the conference in digs with 4.24 per set. Freshman Jillian Shemanski is tied for fifth in the league in blocks with 1.04 per set. She leads the team with 57 blocks, 13 of which came in the SMU match this past weekend.
A LOOK AT UCF
The Golden Knights are 4-10 (1-1 C-USA) after recently going 1-1 this past weekend against UTEP and Tulane. UCF lost to UTEP in three sets, but picked up its first conference win against Tulane, 3-1. The Golden Knights are led on offense by junior outside hitter Angelica Crump with 141 kills and 3.13 kills per set. She is followed by hitters Evija Vilde and Ashley Gialenios, who both have over 100 kills for the season. Setter Marie Reiterova leads the team with 331 assists, but freshman setter Dana Faught has seen some time at the position, earning 4.79 assists per set. Senior libero Meredith Murphy has a team-high 167 digs on defense, while middle blocker DeLaina Sarden has a team-leading 42 blocks.
A LOOK AT SOUTHERN MISS
The Golden Eagles are 5-9 (1-1 C-USA) after going 1-1 this past weekend with a five-set win over Tulane and 3-1 loss to UTEP. Sophomore outside hitter Jasmine Crowell leads the team on offense with 165 kills and 3.30 kills per set and is the team-lead on defense with 48 blocks. Freshman Lydia Bonner tops the team with a 3.40 kill per set average. Senior hitter Halie Ecker follows with 146 kills. Setter Kristen Fleming leads the team with 528 assists and 10.56 set-ups per set. Libero Elizabeth Rinaudo leads the defense with 195 digs and 3.90 digs per set.
