Southern Miss Headed to Huntington for Friday Night Volleyball

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Volleyball will return to the Cam Henderson Center Friday against Southern Miss in the program’s Conference USA home opener. The match’s start time is set for 6 p.m.

Marshall (6-11, 1-1 Conference USA) started its league slate last Friday in Charlotte where it dropped a four-set affair, but bounced back Sunday and swept Middle Tennessee on the road.

Outside hitter Jac’cara Walker led the Thundering Herd, averaging 4.86 kills and 5.43 points per set, hitting .258 en route to Conference USA Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors.
The Gainesville, Fla., native added 3.29 digs per set and had three service aces, along with two blocks. Walker had 21 digs and 18 kills at Charlotte. In the sweep over the Blue Raiders, she led the team with 16 kills and hit .500 for the match.
She is C-USA’s leader in kills per set with 4.47 and is third in overall kills with 237. She is third in service aces with 0.42 per set and tied for second in total aces with 22.



Middle blocker Addisyn Rowe is fourth in C-USA in blocks per set (1.12), while libero Jessa Long (3.56) is seventh in digs and setter Madelyn Cole (9.12) is eighth in assists.

Scouting the Golden Eagles

Southern Miss (10-7, 1-1) comes off a home split last week, snapping North Texas’s 11-match win streak Friday with a five-set win before falling to UTSA in four on Sunday.

Setter Sarah Bell (11.30) is third in the league in assists per set and libero Natalie Druhan ranks fifth in digs (3.71). Outside hitters Kylie Grandy (0.38) and Chandler Marshall stand sixth in service aces and eighth in kills (3.32), respectively.
