HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall volleyball will host Conference USA foe East Carolina on Friday before traveling to UAB to face the Blazers on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Marshall enters the weekend 10-11 and 4-2 in Conference USA. The Herd split its Texas weekend trip, taking a 3-1 match against North Texas and dropping a 3-0 decision to Rice. Marshall is led by senior outside hitter Laura Der, who has recorded 189 kills, averaging 3.26 per set and 184 digs.

Senior outside hitter Laura Der reached the 1,000-career kills plateau in her match against FIU Sept. 29. Her 1,065 kills for her career ranks sixth in program history.
Also crossing a major plateau was junior setter Sammie Bane, who surpassed 3,000 assists for her career at FAU on Sept. 27. Bane’s 3,223 assists ranks fourth in program history.
Senior libero Dorothy Rahal moved into second place in all-time digs at Marshall against Tulane on Oct. 4. She has recorded 1,464 digs at Marshall.
Senior middle blocker Sacha Byous-McConnell is fourth in Conference USA with a .378 hitting percentage. She has collected 180 kills on the season, averaging 2.5 kills per set. Byous-McConnell is third in all-time hitting percentage with a .290 hitting efficiency for her career.
Scouting the Pirates
East Carolina enters the weekend 10-12 and 1-4 in Conference USA. The Pirates are led by senior outside hitter Nicole Willis, who has tallied 302 kills, averaging 3.92 kills per set and 242 digs while sophomore outside hitter Torrie Blake has chipped in with 148 kills. Senior libero Shelby Beasley earned C-USA Defensive Player of the Week honors on Oct. 14. Beasley has 292 digs on the season, averaging 3.79 per set. ECU is led by first-year coach Julie Torbett. The Herd owns a 16-2 all-time advantage over the Pirates.
Scouting the Blazers
UAB enters the weekend 14-8 and 3-3 in Conference USA. The Blazers are led by sophomore outside hitter Sam Skinner, who has tallied 278 kills, averaging 4.15 per set and 130 digs while junior middle blocker Sara Rishell has chipped in with 257 kills, averaging 3.17 per set and a .330 hitting percentage. UAB is led by eighth-year coach Kerry Messersmith. The Blazers lead the all-time series with the Herd, 10-5.
Marshall will return home to continue conference action against Charlotte Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. ET.
