Christin Bimberg

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. Marshall sophomore volleyball player Christin Bimberg (Schwerin, Germany) had been named to the 2004 Academic All-District II first team selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Bimberg is the second player from Marshall to make the squad in the last three years. Former Herd player Isabell Anderer was selected as an All-America third team member in 2002 and 2003. That national squad will be released later in the year.

Bimberg, a 5-11 outside hitter, is fourth on the team in kills this season with 212 (1.98/game). Bimberg is also fifth on the team in digs with 245 (2.29/game). She is third on the team with 36 service aces. Bimberg also has eight block solos and 33 block assists on the year.

Perhaps, the more impressive stat for this award is her 4.0 g.p.a. as an International Affairs major. She is the only player on the first and second All-District team with a perfect 4.0 g.p.a.

Its a great honor for Christin and for our program, Marshall head coach Mitch Jacobs said. Were going to keep recruiting great students and hopefully keep getting recognized for that. The great thing about Christin is that she not only gets it done in the classroom, but also on the floor for us too. Shes an excellent all-around player and student-athlete.
