Herd’s matchup with Eagles in Statesboro to be shown on ESPN+
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Football's Nov. 7 contest at Georgia Southern will be a 3:30 p.m. kickoff from Paulson Stadium in Statesboro, Ga., and shown on ESPN+, it was announced on Monday.
The announcement at the 12-day window comes as part of the television contract between the Sun Belt Conference and ESPN.
The matchup between the Thundering Herd and Eagles is the 11th all-time meeting between the schools in a series that dates back to the I-AA days when both were two of the most storied programs in what is now known as the FCS division.
The teams met six times in an eight-year stretch from 1989 to 1996 before rekindling the rivalry when the Herd joined the Sun Belt in 2022.
In the past four years as Sun Belt East Division foes, the two teams have split the four meetings with the Herd winning the first two and Georgia Southern winning the last two, including last year's 24-19 win in Huntington.
The games as SBC opponents have proven to be exciting with each of the last three meetings decided by a total of 11 points.
The announcement means that the Herd's next two contests – both on the road – will be afternoon matchups.
Marshall starts its two-game road trip this weekend when the Herd takes on Old Dominion at 1 p.m. on Saturday at S.B. Ballard Stadium in Norfolk.
